Power Metal

Now while I could go on for days about Progressive metal, thats probably not what all you want to hear about, so lets mix it up a bit, and move on shall we? Power Metal. Wikipedia to the rescue again, "Power metal is a style of heavy metal music combining characteristics of traditional metal with speed metal, often within symphonic context. The term refers to two different but related styles: the first pioneered and largely practiced in North America with a harder sound similar to speed metal, and a later more widespread and popular style based in Europe (especially Germany, Italy, Scandinavia), Brazil and Japan with a lighter, more melodic sound and frequent use of keyboards(...) Power metal is today associated with fast tempo and melodic harmonies, the sound tempered by characteristics of speed metal, power metal's musical forerunner." Wiki source here While the lyrics are much lower in pitch than prog metal, they can still have great range of pitch, but usually are sung with much more intensity, energy, and purpose. The lyrics themselves dont sing about death or satan necessarily, but of anything and everything in between, so I'll throw down a good Power Metal playlist for you all to get a good idea of what its like.
